SAC Weekend Recap

SAC Weekend Recap

Potomac Elite 16s and 17s attended the South Atlantic Championships this past Memorial Weekend.

16 Blue:  The team had a very successful weekend.  Coming 2nd off the net on both Saturday and Sunday, they played some great matches.  Monday found them in the Gold Bracket playoffs.  They lost in the Qtr Finals, but not without fighting hard and almost pushing the match to 3 with a close 24-26 second game.  After a long weekend, they ending up 9th out of 40 teams.  This was their final tournament of the season and they finished very strong.  Way to go 16 Blue!!

17 Blue:  Going into this weekend, the team only had 6 players for Saturday, and lost one to an injury forcing the the team to play with only 5 players the entire second day. The team dug deep and was able to compete well, keeping the point spread in almost every set to 4 or less points. The other teams, coaches, refs, and parents they played called them the "The Iron Man Team" and offered and endless stream of congratulations after each match.  Monday brought back 2 key players, and they finally found success in the semi- finals but came up short in the final match.  Coach Hallaj was beyond proud of how hard and positive each player was over the weekend.   Although they ended up 16th out of 18 teams.  The team played with all its heart, and found new strengths within themselves.  The team has one more tournament - ASICS Junior Nationals in Chicago in mid-June.

You’re never a loser until you quit trying.
